Ricardo Adolfo

Ricardo Adolfo (b. 1974) was born in Luanda and grew up in Lisbon. He is a novelist, screenwriter and advertising creative, and has lived between Amsterdam and Tokyo, geographies reflected in the cosmopolitan, ironic tone of his writing. His work stands out for its lively language, for characters who move on the margins and for a subtle critique of the illusions of contemporary urban life. Adolfo writes with humour, but without complacency: he uses the absurd to shed light on the real. Between bewilderment and lucidity, he has become one of the most original voices in Portuguese fiction today.
