1984
According to Orwell, «Nineteen Eighty-Four» is a satire, in which Swiftian inspiration can also be detected. Although it appears naturalistic, it deals with the realities and the terror of political power, not only in a particular country, but in the world — in a standardised world.
It was written as an attack on all the factors in modern society that can lead to a life of deprivation and brutalisation, and was not intended to be a «prophecy» of any kind.
Who knows ... For what it's worth, it's worth reading.
