Drive your plow over the bones of the dead

Anotherworldly novel that blends elements of thriller, moral fable and philosophical reflection. The story follows Janina Duszejko, an eccentric retired engineer and amateur astrologer who lives in a remote area on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic.

When several hunters in the region are found dead under mysterious circumstances, Janina believes that the animals may be taking revenge on the humans who mistreat them.

The book raises profound questions about the relationship between humans and nature, the limits of justice and the fragility of social norms. With writing that is ironic, poetic and rich in symbolism, Tokarczuk creates an unforgettable protagonist whose worldview challenges conventions and forces us to rethink what is considered normal.

Olga Tokarczuk is one of the most important voices in contemporary European literature. A trained psychologist, humanist and spiritual thinker, she is closely associated with themes of identity, borders and ecology. In 2018, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature (presented in 2019), cementing her place as an essential author for understanding the dilemmas of our time.
