The End of the United States of America
It is time to mourn.
The End of the United States of America is a satirical and dystopian epic that begins with the enigmatic arrival of the plague in the United States of America.
Ted Trash, a fascist and far-right extremist, and Left Wing, a far-left extremist, will be responsible for a second civil war in the country. The poor and the rich will have problems with each other, and they will not be few.
In the midst of this is Bloom, the hero of the epic, who will have a terrible fate, but will try, to the utmost, to save America, always having in his mind the image of a beautiful woman, the Mexican La Rosa, whom he met one day in a stadium.
There are many characters in this epic. Johnston Bonne, a computer engineer, absolutely crazy, an anarchist, will try with alchemical processes, and some smoke and exuberant parties, to help the country. Jonathan & Mary, activists, in the midst of tents and some nudism, will try to fight for their utopias until the very end. Tiresias, a blind prophet, will deliver decisive oracles. Dr. Robert, a scientist and Bloom's friend, will try, with his rationalism, and sometimes with God being called, a solution. James, the gravedigger, will perform his duty in an exemplary manner, and Mack Morris, a cloud-watcher, will wander around, not always looking up. Tsetse flies, butterflies, and buffaloes will also enter, with different roles, in this epic. This is a Greco-American tragedy. Thoughts and actions, if the Gods will it, will therefore be present.

The End of the United States of America is a new center in Gonçalo M. Tavares's path.
“Tavares will win the Nobel Prize… There is, very clearly, a before Gonçalo M. Tavares and an after.” [José Saramago, Nobel Prize in Literature]
