A book made of absences. The work begins with the death of the author's sister, who died shortly after birth, and transforms that void into a meditation on fragility, the body, and light. The text is both an exercise in memory and a ritual in which each white object becomes a way of speaking.

Han Kang writes with an almost mineral purity.

“If I could write your life in white, perhaps silence would become a body, and that body could breathe.”

The impossible desire to give form back to what has disappeared.

Han Kang was born in 1970 in Gwangju, South Korea, and is one of the most singular voices in contemporary literature. Author of The Vegetarian, Human Acts, and Greek Lessons, she explores pain and beauty with a rare spiritual discipline. Nobel Prize in 2024.
