The K. Trilogy.
The K. Trilogy was the title that, at the translator's suggestion, Agota Kristof recommended for the edition of the work in Portugal, which brings together, in a single volume, three novels (The Big Notebook, The Proof, The Third Lie).
Agota Kristof was born in Hungary, but in 1956 she fled her country, invaded by Soviet troops, to settle in Switzerland.
The trilogy tells the story of two twins, who are sent by the war from their hometown to the countryside, under the care of a grandmother who treats them with particular harshness. To survive, they create their own strange world in which events are recorded in a "big notebook".
Agota Kristof speaks to us of a Europe that, at the time, was divided, but also of the uprooting, separation, and loss of identity created by the authoritarian societies of the past and present.
Agota Kristof was born in Hungary in 1935. She died in Switzerland in 2011. She wrote all her work in French.
