A singular text that delves into the experience of a foreigner living in Tokyo, confronted with a culture deeply different from his own. A Portuguese man married to a Japanese woman, he takes on the role of “foreigner” in a society where integration is complex.

Based on chronicles originally published in Sábado magazine, he reveals, with humor and a critical eye, the rituals, rules, and paradoxes of Japanese urban life. From hanami to corporate drinking bouts, passing through workers' lunch boxes and the “rental friends” business, each episode is a window into Japanese normality, filtered through the bewilderment of an outside observer.

A reflection on identity, displacement, and adaptation, where humor serves as a shield against the discomfort of difference. Speaking of emigration...
