A work that confronts the reader with the brutality of history and the fragility of the human condition. Far from any linear or comforting narrative, Müller constructs a fragmented text, where every word is political.

The play dives into the rubble of the 20th century, exposing the wounds opened by totalitarianism, war, and failed utopia. What we find is a discourse that dismantles myths and reveals the hidden violence in social structures.

A mirror where hope emerges only as a shadow and the future as a threat.

Heiner Müller was born on January 9, 1929, in Eppendorf, Germany, and died on December 30, 1995, in Berlin. Considered one of the most important playwrights of the post-war era, Müller was a fierce critic of the ideologies that marked the 20th century. His writing, influenced by Brecht, combines rigor (intellectual) and violence (poetic), exploring themes such as power, oppression, and historical memory. He lived and worked in former East Germany, where he faced censorship and persecution, but never renounced criticism. His work continues to be studied and staged around the world. He survived.
