1st edition.

Literary mission: to dismantle Portugal (and the world, while we're at it) with a smile. The book establishes a dialogue between fiction and essay, chronicle and the absurd.

"Rui Zink has already accustomed us to his mordacity, which here explodes in many daring feats. In the parodic treatment of some serious social problems (the gypsies, organ trafficking, the Casal Ventoso), which ends up working as ironic criticism. But mainly in the uses of language, which range from the invention of new terms ("sacavanear") to "pastiches" of various jargons.

The journalistic, as in "Penúltima hora", where the news about a bomb in a restaurant gives way to the vocabulary of culinary criticism, an excursion of advertising to the menu and the place, to return to the tragic event; the literary, as the writing of Eça de Queiroz, in "Capítulo inédito", presented as a newly discovered first version of an excerpt from Os Maias, even prior to the controversial Tragedy of Rua das Flores. At the very least, very funny." Helena Barbas, Expresso, 21 November 1998

Rui Zink, born in Lisbon in 1961, is one of the most singular voices in contemporary Portuguese literature. Writer, professor and intellectual provocateur, he has built a body of work marked by irony, social criticism and the rare ability to transform the everyday into revealing absurdity.

In books such as O Destino Turístico, A Instalação do medo or Hotel Lusitano, he explores the tension between fantasy and reality: humor as an acute form of thought.
