How to Win Elections
Who would have thought that, by March 2025, this little book by Quinto Tullius Cicero, written sixty-four years before the birth of Christ, would become a bedside book for a very good Portuguese bed, riding the wave of unforeseen and consecutive elections?
According to (more or less) official sources, Quinto decided, faced with what was shaping up to be a fierce campaign, that his older brother needed his advice, trying to curb a temperament that everyone thought tended towards aggressiveness – and, with the proper balance, towards cruelty. “At the beginning of the election campaign for the Consulship, Quinto wrote Marcus a short pamphlet with a brief note on election campaigning, in the form of a letter”, which ultimately resulted, thanks to editorial play, in this “How to Win Elections” (Gradiva, 2015).
